What makes this beacon revolutionary is the location technology inside of it called Hybrid-Assisted GPS.
Historically, GPS devices could not be located inside buildings or containers where satellite signals are blocked. In addition, most GPS devices have been too large and difficult to conceal, and would only last a few hours on a battery charge.
Hybrid-Assisted GPS, the latest generation of GPS technology, overcomes these limitations by combining two location methods into one beacon: GPS and cell-tower triangulation.
This combination provides the accuracy of GPS with the high-power signal strength of cellular wireless, all in a small, self-contained beacon that runs for up to 30 days between battery charges.
Key features include:
- Hybrid-Assisted GPS location technology
- Battery operated for up to 30 days between charges
- Small for effective concealment
- Nationwide coverage

Key System Features
|
Valuable goods-in-transit require similar administration and management tools as other classes of assets, including:
- Manage asset name and details (ID, photos, etc.)
- Create and edit Contacts and Notification Groups (for alerts)
- Create, manage and categorize Landmarks
- User-defined Scheduled Tracking
|
Since Hybrid-Assisted GPS utilizes two location technologies, we have developed key features to display the estimated accuracy of each locate point using what we call the circle of certainty. Every time location information from a hybrid-assisted GPS beacon is received by the Portable Indoor Tracker system, it is plotted on a map with a circle overlay to reflect the accuracy.
The resulting circle of certainty visually communicates the level of accuracy quickly and easily. A small circle indicates a high precision location fix resulting from at least partial GPS information. Larger circles reflect the margin of error resulting from using cell tower information.

Alerts
|
Portable Indoor Tracker can be set-up to automatically send alerts via email or SMS (text message) for any of the following events:
- Zone Alert
(when a beacon reports while outside an allowed zone)
- Daily Status (the beacon will report current location and
status at a predefined time)
- Low Battery Alert
(when the beacon’s batteries need to be charged)

Portable Indoor Tracker can generate a wide range of reports that provide information on goods-in-transit, including:
Report data is available online, for 120 days, and can be exported for use in Excel and other programs.
Key reports can also be scheduled for delivery in Excel, CSV and PDF formats.
